My method

Introduction

Learning a language — even one's own — means absorbing a way of giving shape to experience: nurturing an inner lens through which we perceive ourselves and the world. It is a process that involves us completely, shapes the way we feel, think and act, and goes far beyond the simple memorisation of rules and words.

Experience has shown me that actual mastery of a language — that is, the ability to speak, understand, interpret context and construct meaning — is possible only when we enter its dimension, learning through direct experience and consolidating logical-emotional connections.

My method "LA BUSSOLA ITALIANA" sees learning as a logical-emotional experience, to be done partly on one's own and partly with me — in order to live the language and merge it with who you are. 

It aims to help you become increasingly aware of the Italian language, because only if you know "what you say" and "how you say it" can you achieve an actual ability to communicate, interact and live your days speaking Italian in a comprehensible way — regardless of your language level.

This approach is the fruit of over 10 years of experience, study and research. It was born from a passion for languages that I have carried since childhood, from an inner journey that has never stopped, and from the conviction that learning a language is first and foremost a human experience.

Unique learning materials

What I offer is an experiential path to get to know the Italian language and its personality. The way we build sentences, in fact, depends on what we want to express and on how we want to express it. I have created more than 70 exclusive PDFs in which I illustrate grammar through a logical-emotional lens. Every important element is highlighted with a color, and I have added examples that show how to put everything into practice.

In addition to this, we will imitate together the characters of emotionally engaging stories, where we will encounter new words and expressions connected to a living context. I will also guide you in singing famous songs that are part of Italian culture, through which we will be able to understand more about this country and its people.

During the learning process, there may be many skills to refine, and for each of them I always have an exercise to propose to you, which you can do on your own or together with me.

The importance of pronunciation

A language is first and foremost "sound", not written text. Each one has its own sonic imprint and rhythm, and only if we manage to grasp them can we seize its words and handle them as we please — observe them, study them, use them. If they escape us instead, we lose them.

In my experience, I have noticed that usually, when we approach a new language, we instinctively tend to pronounce it according to the habits of our native language, and how much this drastically slows down our progress in many ways, not only phonologically.

For this reason, I conceived and refined over time a one-of-a-kind diction course, accompanied by a color-coding system that creates a bridge toward Italian pronunciation. It is constantly updated and suitable for everyone — particularly for those from East Asia, and for English and German speakers. It works very well, and both my students and I are fully satisfied with it.

This system allows learners to quickly acquire a structural understanding of Italian phonetics, gives them the tools to maintain the right direction over time and, progressively, to self-correct.

Getting used to the typical pronunciation and sound of Italian takes time: it is mainly a matter of conscious listening and imitation of sound. If you truly want to "improve your speaking ability", you must first "improve the way you listen". If you'd like, we can do it together!
